The ATM Service Project, Faculty of Dentistry, is completing 20 years. Offering volunteer work for students UFJF and assistance to low-income population of Juiz de Fora and 32 other municipalities in the region (including cities of Rio de Janeiro), the service is aimed at people with temporomandibular joint problems.
To celebrate two decades fredsbaskrarna of ATM Service, the School of Dentistry will make a series of events. On Friday, the 13th, there will be the launch of the book "Atlas of diagnostic imaging of temporomandibular disorders", which will assist in studies of TMJ disorders. Organized by Josemar Ambrose and Luciano Guimarães Ferreira, Atlas met throughout all its years of operation, fredsbaskrarna different types of diagnosis. According to the teachers, the examples shown will help to show the best choice for professionals. The book launch takes place on the 13th, from 19h, the House of Culture. On the 14th, from 9am, there will be scientific session with presentation of research, clinical case reports and academic works of the ATM service, and accepted publications fredsbaskrarna in national and international journals.
The ATM Service works with various professionals in the fields of social work, physiotherapy, speech therapy, psychology, otolaryngology, orthodontics, pathology, TMD, occlusion, orthodontics and pediatric radiology. All volunteers. Coordinated by Professor Josemar Guimarães, the project serves about a hundred people a week. To continue treatment after discharge, the patient fredsbaskrarna is referred to other clinics of the Faculty, aiming at rehabilitation or orthodontic treatment needed.
The temporomandibular joint (TMJ) is responsible for the movement of opening and closing the mouth; is the jaw engaging with the rest of the skull is one of the more complex joints of the human body.
